Sourcing from mills worldwide our fabrics & leathers are made in Italy, Turkey, Holland, China, Belgium & the UK. Our fabrics are commercial grade quality & tested to withstand the Martindale rub test. The Martindale method is a universally accepted textile test used to measure durability.

Framing - Our frames are built to last.

How long your sofa will last largely depends on the frame. A high-quality piece of furniture will be made with sturdiness & durability in mind.

Our framing is made from solid NZ hardwood & solidly built. All of our custom pieces are made by hand using the best possible materials to uphold our exacting standards.

Feeling a little more traditional? Our wooden tapered collection is available in solid natural oak or walnut & suits almost all of our furniture models.

Our leg hardware is available to purchase separately. Order a second set to change the look of your piece through the seasons or over the years.

Cushioning - Using the highest-grade foam ensures a comfortable sit.

We understand the importance of seating support & comfort - that’s why we use highly resilient variable density foam on top of our sturdy frames to ensure maximum comfort.

Fibre-filled back cushions wrapped in non-woven linen reduces sagging. With a regular rotation of the cushions you can keep the casing in the right position & you’ll assist your filling to have a full life.

If you are looking for a softer sit add our free duck feather topper for an extra soft sumptuous sit (custom made only & available on selected models).

Our Leather - Like a fine wine our leathers get better with age.

Leather is a high performing material for upholstery. We use the full hide with a natural patina meaning no two hides are the same.

Buying beautiful leather from Contempa you can rest assured we source only the finest Italian hides which have little to no surface coating. This contributes greatly to the comfort & exclusivity of all our sofas.

Our natural leathers are soft & smooth, full of character, ensuring your only job is to sit back & enjoy watching your leather age gracefully.

Add on our eco-friendly fabric protection service, Microseal. Offering a lifetime of protection against stains & general wear & tear.

In addition to wear & tear protection, Microseal provides substantial sun-fade resistance for fabric.

Designed as a premium fabric & leather treatment, Microseal will not break up, wear or clean off and will continue to protect the fibres from permanent stains and sun-fading for many years.
